Turkeys: Shared Blessings and Harvest

Wild turkeys have been roaming the Ranch the last several weeks.  For the most part they stay on their summer range high in the mountains and we don’t see them until autumn.  We have been having an unusually warm September this year and that makes me wonder why they came down early.  According to Ted Andrews in his book Animal Speak, the turkey is a symbol of all the blessings that the Earth contains, along with the ability to use them to their greatest advantage.  Turkeys are very adaptable.  They find a strength in numbers and thus reflect the energy of sharing.

Margo Went on a Walk-about

Margo has been on a “walk-about” of her large range in the Colorado foothills the last couple of months.  She never stays in one place for long.  That may change next spring, though.  She may have her first litter.  If so, she will have to den-up with her cubs for a while and she was looking for the best place to do that.  For now, she is still free to roam.  She came back to visit Golden Eagle Ranch last night.
